One Year On…

Well it’s a year to the day since I posted my first review. What a whirlwind year it’s been, stuffing my face!

So I’ve reviewed 85 restaurants and returned to several over the past 12 months. You can read my review of 2015 here to see some of my faves.

So what have I learnt? Blogging can be hard. Finding the motivation to capture all your thoughts as soon as you get home from a meal can be hard work, particularly when all you want is a post-feasting nap. Then getting that into something vaguely readable when you have a full time day job is also tricky. That being said I have eaten in more and varied places because of the blog and been more adventurous in trying new restaurants. Edinburgh has so much to offer and blogging is helping me unearth some gems (yes I’m talking about you, The Table). I’ve also made some great friends along the way, especially Emma (Edinbug) and Ann (Quirky Lifestyle) and now have a whole host of foodies I respect and follow – not literally follow, that would be weird. Thanks also to all the restaurants and PR companies that have invited me to try food as it means I can cover more ground and hopefully expand readership.

Will I be continuing? Yes. Firstly, I have at least 80 more restaurants on my wish list and there are always new places opening up. Secondly, I know that people are using the blog for recommendations, so I seem to be providing a useful service for some people out there, which is what I set out to do.

Feel free to send suggestions or just to chat about the Edinburgh food scene either directly on or via Twitter @EdinburghFeasts. You can also get sneak previews of places I’ve been via my Instagram account @EdinburghFeasts.

Thanks to everyone who reads the blog. I appreciate it.
