We booked here with an itison voucher deal for a burger and fries for two for £10. I had heard mixed things about this place but the menu looked good so we thought we’d give the deal a try. TriBeCa is a diner style restaurant with a big yellow taxi jutting out of the wall. The restaurant was incredibly busy and loud as a result, although this quietened as time went on. The menu states that their burgers are “home ground from locally sourced select cuts of the highest quality Scottish beef. We serve our burgers medium to ensure maximum juiciness.”. Well that sounded promising. I went for a Chrysler burger without the bacon (I love bacon, just not on a burger). My dining companion for the evening went for a De Niro burger. We had the option to upgrade our choices but we stuck with the burger order and the standard crispy fries.

The burgers arrived and, to be honest, looked a little unimpressive. I know it’s difficult to tart up a burger but usually I’m salivating when one is placed in front of me. However, this didn’t have the same result. Upon eating, the burgers were decent enough but perhaps a tad uninspiring considering the flavour combinations available. My burger had American cheese, pickle, caramelised onions, tomato and burger sauce on top of the patty. These were all fine enough. My friend’s burger was a N’Duja infused steak patty, tzatziki, crushed chilli flakes, tomato and sriracha mayo. This all sounded great but she found hers to be a little dry and the bun could have done with toasting, although it didn’t fall to pieces upon eating which was something. TriBeCa offer an option to build your own burger and perhaps this would help a little. The crispy fries, on the other hand, were tasty and had a lovely seasoning on them.

Although not in the deal, we opted to share a dessert of Oreo cheesecake. We were given a choice of ice cream or cream, which was a nice touch – we went for ice cream. The cheesecake was surprisingly light but we were glad we shared. This was a decent dessert offering. We also were given Jelly Belly jelly beans with the bill which was fun.

Overall this place is ok. However, with other similar offerings in the city performing strongly, this place is going to need to push harder to keep its customers.

Food – 7.5/10
Atmosphere – 7/10
Service – 8/10
Value – 8/10

Overall – 30.5

Would I go again? – Maybe

Cost £18 with the deal but nearer £28 full price.
